According to research by the American Psychiatric Association (2009), over a half million people in the United States today have autism or some form of pervasive developmental disorder. Its prevalence rate makes autism one of the most common developmental disabilities. Yet most of the public, including many professionals in the medical, educational, and vocational fields, are still unaware of how autism affects people and how they can effectively work with individuals with autism.

ACCREDITATION PROCESS AT HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES
The purpose of this paper was to develop a leadership development plan to improve the accreditation process at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Accreditation is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the body for colleges and universities that prepare teachers and other professional personnel for work in the education profession.

The definition of the College Preparation Program is a remedial program designed to assist students in building their skills in the area of reading, English, mathematics, science, and study skills.
